Leanne Duthie is an independent counsellor who works by the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. The number of sessions attended is agreed upon between the client and counsellor during their work together.
Information Held
During our work together I will complete an Initial Consultation and during subsequent counselling sessions, I will make brief notes. These documents are kept in a secure place and will be retained for a period of two years after the client’s last appointment and then disposed of confidentially. Clients have a right to access records containing personal data and requests received under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts will be dealt with promptly.
Confidentiality
What you discuss within your counselling sessions is confidential and will not normally be disclosed. In accordance with my professional requirements, I discuss my work regularly with a supervisor, but clients remain anonymous.
I will only share information if:
There is a risk of harm to you or to someone else. I have a duty of care to take steps to minimize any danger. Where possible, a proposed course of action would usually be discussed with you first.
I am legally compelled by a court of law, or a specific piece of legislation makes disclosure mandatory.
If you have any concerns about confidentiality, please ask.
Sessions
The duration of the therapeutic process will depend on the type of difficulty or problem you are facing. The contract is open for the client to decide how many sessions they require.
Payment
Please pay for sessions on or before your appointment via cash or bank transfer. The fee for a one-hour session is £65.00. Bank details are:

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of sessions with less than 48 hours’ notice will incur the full fee. I will always give notice if I am unable to offer a session due to illness or other commitments and will endeavor to offer an alternative appointment.
